Acer Liquid S1

Acer introduces its take on the oversized smart phone with the Liquid S1! Anyone use an Acer phone? You may find the company’s products sitting pretty in the form of a laptop, desktop or monitor, however, not many of your peers may use one of the many Acer smart phones, unless of course your peers are international travelers with a hankering for affordable awesomeness. Acer however is continuously attempting to make a larger mark on the smart phone industry by pumping out some excellent handsets. Mid May, the company stated they would be introducing up to seven new Android handsets into the market this year and it looks as if the Liquid S1 will get the ball rolling.

If you’re unfamiliar with the word phablet, let us explain. Phablet describes a device that is too large to be an ordinary smart phone, but also to small to be a standard tablet. Hence, the word phablet is born. But get used to it as Acer is actually using the word to describe their new Liquid S1 and for good reason. Acer has announced the Liquid S1 today via a traditional press release. The Liquid S1 will start with the likes of a 5.7 inch 1280×720 HD touch screen that offers up a pixel density around 258 pixels per inch. Running with the latest in Android version 4.2, the Liquid S1 is also set to pack in a 2400 mAh battery and will need every milliamp with a screen that size! Internally the device is set to come with a MediaTek made MT6589T system chip that offers up a quad core 1.5 GHz processor. Additionally the Liquid S1 will offer up an unnamed GPU, 1 GB of Ram, 8 GB of internal storage and expandable microSD memory options up to 32 GB. Around back of this new behemoth, you’ll find an 8 mega pixel camera with full 1080p HD video recording capabilities, while a front facing camera is available with a 2 mega pixel sensor. The new Acer Liquid S1 will also come with dual SIM capabilities depending on market. We are also set to expect Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, micro USB as well as GPS. The Liquid S1 will launch to Germany, UK, Russia, Ukraine, Netherlands, Belgium, and France followed shortly by Spain and Italy, starting in Q3 of this year. The Liquid S1 is expected to pull in a starting price of €349.
